The Smyser Room
The Smyser Room is a combination bedroom and office on the ground floor with a private entrance. It features a private half bath — a sink and water closet of 100 percent antique porcelain that impressed the appraiser commissioned by Home and Garden Television. The peacock-decorated boarder in the room comes from a Victorian mansion in North Carolina. This long, narrow room once served as the office of Dr. Henry Smyser’s medical practice in the 1800s. Now it’s a private guest room and office for visitors to Dr. Smyser’s historic home.
